Dustless Sanding

Dustless Sanding

Almost every homeowner is concerned with the issue of dust when they want/need their hardwood floors refinished.  Now my experience is strictly with Heritage Hardwood Floors and I have never used any other method besides dustless sanding.  This is a process where every sander is either attached to a vacuum or has one built into it.  I personally have never seen the outcome if a company doesn’t use this method of sanding, all I do know is that customers are very concerned with making sure their houses are clean after we refinish their floors.  The reason why a customer would want this, just to simply keep their house clean.  If there is a large amount of dust getting kicked up, it will get on everything from you walls, pictures, and Tvs to your counter tops, coffee maker, and other kitchen appliances.  These are all tedious things that a homeowner would have to take care of and possibly even pay for, after a company comes in and sands the floor.  Dustless sanding is not perfect, just like everything else, however the amount  of dust that doesn’t make it into a vacuum is minuscule and almost impossible to notice compared to not using dustless.  However there other measures that can be taken to even further limit the amount of cleaning needed after the whole ordeal. At Heritage we always put up plastic around cabinets, Tvs, light fixtures, counter tops, etc. at no extra cost, just to make the project more pleasurable for the customer.  We also do not use any other method besides dustless sanding and thus we do not charge extra for it.  We look at dustless sanding as a win-win situation for us, the customer is happy and we are working in a more comfortable environment.  So if you are using another contractor to refinish your floors, we highly recommend you to use their dustless sanding process.
